Argentina defeat hosts Colombia to win CSV qualification tournament

Bogota, Colombia, January 10, 2020 - Argentina defeated hosts Colombia in the CSV Women's Tokyo Volleyball Qualification tournament in Bogota on Thursday.

Julieta Lazcano, captain of Argentina: "I am very proud of my team, I cannot believe it, the words do not reach me to say how happy and proud I am. We got what we were looking for, we made history for Argentina for the second time and are very happy."

Hernan Ferraro, coach of Argentina: “We knew we had done a great job, that the Japan World Cup had helped us to grow as a team and the girls did a great job in their leagues, which made make our work easier before arriving here and we classified well.”

Maria Alejandra Marín, captain of Colombia: “Colombia played well, we fought but at the end Argentina took the game, with very experienced players. However, Colombia must continue working and wait four more years to reach the Olympic Games.”

Antonio Rizola, coach of Colombia: “I feel a great sadness, knowing that Argentina is a superior team to ours, with more experience and they showed it. I did not tell lies, because they left a difficult situation after the first set. The second we played, the third was bad and in the fourth we got our game back and it is sad because these girls deserved the classification four years in advance. Our goal is Paris 2024, but when we are so close, demonstrating that quality of play we had, it is really sadness.”
